Expanding access to care – Slade Health Woodville opening October

Our new South Australian compounding facility in Woodville is fast approaching completion. The final touches are being made to the state-of-the-art sterile clean rooms and our team is currently completing a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) audit. Once operational, the site will have immediate capacity to deliver more than 300,000 annual chemotherapy and sterile infusions, with a view to supply healthcare providers in other states.

Icon Group Global Director – Pharmacy and Compounding, David Slade and members of the Slade Health team recently toured the facility with our SA Health customers, who were impressed with the project’s progress and facility features. The opening of the Woodville facility is the next step in Icon Group’s significant commitment to delivering excellence in pharmaceutical compounding and advancing patient care in South Australia.

Compounding capabilities: quality clinical trials

Slade Health is proud to assist our hospital partners in the delivery of clinical trials across our compounding facilities in Australia and New Zealand.

Our experience spans Phase I to Phase IV studies, primarily in oncology and haematology. Our service includes national clinical trial coordination among our TGA/Medsafe-licensed compounding facilities to ensure relevant criteria is met for the compounding investigational products. Each compounding facility has a dedicated clinical trials team who manage the segregated storage of clinical trial drugs and equipment. With validated shippers, Slade can assure the secure cold chain or ambient transport of clinical trial products to hospitals on time.

As May 20 marked International Clinical Trials Day, we recognised and celebrated the vital role of clinical trials and research in healthcare by launching the Icon Group 2022 Annual Research Report. Together, we’re helping increase access to trials and treatments, providing hope and creating a brighter future for many people. View the full Group Research Report here.

Very Special Kids 24 Hour Treadmill Challenge

Slade Health took part in the Very Special Kids (VSK) 24 Hour Treadmill Challenge to raise much needed funds for families caring for a child with a life-limiting condition. This year marked our 11th year of involvement in the challenge, over this period, we have raised an incredible $300,000 for VSK. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the unwavering support and generosity of our iconic team and community.

Mount Kuring-gai team meet Can Assist patient, Anna

Our facility at Mount Kuring-gai recently had the privilege of hosting Anna, a breast cancer survivor from Leeton in regional NSW, and Can Assist Advocacy and External Relations Manager, Majella Gallagher, and Can Assist Executive Director, Emma Phillips.

Can Assist is a not-for-profit organisation providing financial assistance and practical support for many people in rural, regional and remote NSW during their cancer treatment.

Anna was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2017 and shared her breast cancer journey with the Slade Health and Slade Pharmacy teams. She detailed the impact her diagnosis had on herself and family, the challenging side effects, and the exceptional support she received from Can Assist.

Visits from patients like Anna and the team at Can Assist bring into focus the powerful impact of what we do at Slade and highlight how the collaborative network of healthcare providers and organisations makes a real, positive difference to people living with cancer and their families.
