Slade Health Woodville now open

On 8 November, we opened the fifth Slade Health TGA licensed compounding facility in Woodville, South Australia. Federal Health Minister and Member for Hindmarsh South Australia, Mark Butler and Minister for Health and Wellbeing and Member for Kaurna South Australia, Chris Picton officially opened the facility, welcoming this addition to South Australia’s growing healthcare capabilities.

This facility will deliver more than 300,000 annual chemotherapy and sterile infusions and increase access to compounded cancer medicines, for patients in South Australia, Western Australia and Northern Territory.

Slade Health team at NZHPA & SHPA Conferences

Last month, our Australian and New Zealand teams proudly represented Slade Health at the Hospital Pharmacy Association Conferences in Queensland and Wellington.

With the theme of a “Space to Grow” at the Society of Hospital Pharmacy Conference in Cairns QLD, the team encouraged our hospital partners to “plant their idea and grow with Slade”. For every suggestion submitted, Slade committed to planting a tree with Greenfleet, an Australian not-for profit organisation dedicated to protecting the climate and restoring native forests.

Over the two days, with many pharmacists sharing their suggestions Slade committed to planting 157 trees! The two main themes shared were around our service offering and environmental sustainability.  We are extremely proud of this initiative and look forward to using these suggestions to underpin our planning for the future. Thank you to all who shared their ideas with us and planted a tree!

Slade Health Avondale celebrates 12 months of operation

In the first year of operation, our team has successfully compounded around 50,000 oncology, clinical trials and antibiotics units, and couriered 1,900 deliveries to hospitals across Auckland.

Meet our 2023 Iconic Awards Icon of the Year and Innovate winner, Larissa Gomes Dos Reis

Congratulations to Principal Scientist, Larissa Gomes Dos Reis, who was recognised as the Icon of the Year and Innovate winner at our 2023 Iconic Awards.

Larissa leads the Research and Stability Laboratory team with a commitment to scientific excellence and using innovation to improve our offering to hospitals. Extending the shelf life of medications, which can significantly improve access to life-saving medicines particularly for regional and remote communities across Australia, is a keen focus for Larissa and her team. Their research can also provide increased flexibility for hospitals around patient scheduling and treatment options, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.

Icon Group holds the Iconic Awards each year to recognise the outstanding achievements of team members across our international network and how they live our values.

World Pharmacist Day

We marked World Pharmacists Day in September and celebrated the indispensable role pharmacists play in enhancing health outcomes. This year’s theme was ‘Pharmacy Strengthening Health Systems’. We extend our gratitude to our hospital partner pharmacists and our own Slade pharmacists. Your commitment, knowledge, and skills to provide patient-centred care are invaluable to the communities and patients we support.
