Slade Health was pleased to welcome New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister, Hon David Seymour, to its Avondale facility in Auckland this week.

The visit showcased how Slade Health is helping strengthen care for New Zealand patients through high-quality sterile compounding, digital innovation and strong public private partnership.

As one of New Zealand’s leading Medsafe-licensed sterile compounding providers, Slade Health prepares more than 400 infusions each day from its Auckland facility for hospitals across the country. This includes chemotherapy, antibiotics, analgesics and clinical trial medicines.

The Deputy Prime Minister toured the site and met with members of the Slade Health team to learn more about the role compounding capability plays in supporting safe, efficient and sustainable healthcare delivery.

Slade Health CEO, Russell Hill, said the visit highlighted the important contribution specialist sterile compounding makes to patients and the broader health system.

“We were pleased to share with the Deputy Prime Minister the expertise, innovation and care that underpins our service every day,” Russell said.

“This site reflects the strong, practical partnership between Slade Health and Te Toka Tumai Auckland, and more broadly with Health New Zealand. It is an example of what can be achieved through public private partnership and a shared commitment efficiency, quality and patient safety.”

Under this partnership, safer workflows, stronger medicine stewardship and more connected care pathways have been established for patients across New Zealand.

The visit also highlighted the role digital innovation continues to play in strengthening quality, safety, system performance and better use of high-cost medicines. This is freeing pharmacy teams to spend more time where it matters most – supporting patient care.

Slade Health General Manager – Client Relations, Paula Clark, said it was encouraging to share the team’s work with government and sector stakeholders.

“Visits like this are a chance to recognise the people behind the work — the pharmacists, technicians and quality teams whose care and discipline help ensure patients receive the right medicine, at the right time,” Paula said.

“We’re proud of our partnership with our hospital colleagues — working together to make care safer, more efficient and more connected for patients across New Zealand.”
